We already taught you how to turn popsicles into a coffee drink, so in celebration of National Ice Cream Day, why not turn coffee drinks into a popsicle? For this week’s how to, we’re putting a frozen twist on one of our favorite signature cold brew recipes. Topped with chocolate and coconut flakes, we know you’ll love this one!
Why Not Hot?
As the name suggests, cold brew is brewed cold, which means that bitter flavors found in hot brewed coffee aren’t extracted. The resulting coffee is smooth and chocolatey. Hot brewed coffee, on the other hand, turns very bitter when cooled down over ice or in the freezer. For this recipe, we’re using cold brew to achieve a refreshingly smooth base for our popsicles.
How to Make Cold Brew Popsicles
Before starting, make sure to prepare your cold brew concentrate. This video will teach you the method we use to brew the perfect cup every time.
Ingredients
• City Girl Coffee Cold Brew Concentrate
• Water
• Milk Chocolate Chips (optional)
• Coconut Flakes (optional)
Instructions
1. Dilute cold brew concentrate with water. Our preferred ratio is 1/3 concentrate to 2/3 water.
2. Pour diluted bold brew into popsicle molds.
3. Freeze until firm, preferably overnight.
4. Once popsicles are thoroughly frozen, melt chocolate chips. We used a microwave for 30 seconds.
5. Apply chocolate to the popsicles. We dipped the tip in for some, and used a fork to create lines for others.
6. Before the chocolate sets, sprinkle some coconut flakes onto the popsicle.
7. Enjoy!
Note: If you don’t like milk chocolate or coconut with your coffee, feel free to make the popsicle base and try your own toppings!
